Tips and Techniques:
Cardstock is an essential tool in any scrapbooker’s arsenal, but sometimes it tends to be forgotten among the stacks and stacks of gorgeous patterned papers so readily available. Instead of leaving that good old friend behind, incorporate cardstock into every layout in a variety of ways and use up all of those scraps in the meantime!

My layout Three Generations of Hillis Girls begins with a brown frame for my teal background. This lends itself well to a vintage inspired layout. Cardstock also serves as a contrast beneath the alphabet stickers in hillis and the delightful sticker in the bottom right hand corner. The words three generations of were printed on a piece of cardstock as well as girls, which I then cut out by hand. As a final cardstock touch, I added a long “ribbon” of aqua to give flow to the layout.

Cardstock’s versatility allows every page to have the perfect embellishment in the perfect color, and that makes everything, well…perfect, doesn’t it?
