XSWEET LITTLE MISS

It never fails – I’ll be attempting to create a title for a layout and I’ll discover that I’m missing an “E” or a “T” – so frustrating! But with a little imagination and some scrapbooking product leftovers, you can eliminate the “lacking a letter” issue. Whenever I buy a chipboard or die cut alpha set, I always save the frame from the letters. With a few swift strokes of a pencil, you can create any word you need, (and never run out of vowels) by simply tracing them onto cardstock or patterned paper, and cutting them out.

A couple tips to help you when creating your custom letters:
• A very sharp pair of scissors or a craft knife will give you the finest cuts. I recommend Fiskars Soft Touch Micro Tip scissors, or EK Success Cutterbee scissors. X-acto makes the tried and true craft knife, but Fiskars has redesigned their craft knife and given it a special soft grip to prevent hand fatigue.
• Flip your template over and trace your alpha shapes on the wrong side of the cardstock or patterned paper to avoid having to erase pencil lines on the right side of the paper.
• Cutting the centers of the letters out first makes it easier to get around the small curves and corners.

How to create a dimensional flower accent:
• You will need: patterned paper, coordinating cardstock, adhesives, (I used Duck Easy Stick for the cardstock and Glue Dots to adhere the finished flower to my page) a chipboard circle and an epoxy sticker for the center. Add a little glitter glue to give a little shine to the edges of the cardstock if desired.
• Cut 6 large petals from your cardstock. You can cut them freehand, or make a template if you would like them all uniform.
• Cut 6 slightly smaller petals from the patterned paper.
• Lightly adhere the tips of the patterned paper petals to the tips of the cardstock petals. I used my Duck adhesive for this step.
• Cover one side of your chipboard circle with adhesive. Dry adhesive works best, and has no drying time, unlike liquid glues. Carefully adhere the point of each petal to the chipboard circle, spacing them evenly until the entire circle is covered.
• Adhere your epoxy sticker to the center of the flower.
